Engine 1058

Engine #1058 was built for the Grand Trunk Railway by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in November, 1873, and ran until 1901. Pictured first from left is my great grandfather, William S. Ready, who was employed by the Grand Trunk Railroad for nine years as a locomotive engineer. In 1934, his death ended thirty six years of service with the Detroit United Railway/Detroit Street Railway as a motorman on the Jefferson line, assistant superintendent of the Woodward and Pontiac lines, inventor and instructor of motormen in the DSR training school.
