South Channel Range Lights

The South Channel Range Lights were put into use in 1859, decommissioned in 1907. The buildings and old seawalls are long gone. Both lighthouses remain and have been undergoing repair by the Save Our South Channel Lights Organization. To accomplish this drawing, I recreated the structures in 3D CAD, rotated them around to the correct perspective. From that view, I did the pencil drawing. The range lights are located in Lake St Clair, Michigan. They were built to facilitate ship’s navigation between the Detroit River and the St Clair River. The correct course was indicated when the lower front range light lined up below the taller rear range light.
